A man (Robert Taylor) producing a play is offered money by a woman (June Knight) so she can star in the show but his former girl friend (Eleanor Powell) also wants the role. A sleezy reporter (Jack Benny) tries to disrupt the preparations for the show whilst the former girl friend and his secretary (Una Merkel) plot to get her into the show. This is one of a series of MGM Broadway musicals and is is typical the plot does not really make much sense. However the song and dance numbers are good as is the performance from Eleanor Powell as she sings and dances her way through several numbers.
