Comment/Synopsis

A mixed group of men (including Gene Hackman and James Coburn and one woman (Candice Bergen) enter a 700 mile horse race across the west including deserts and mountains. This is not an action western, but more a study of the different characters involved and something of their relationship with their horses. There are good performances from Gene Hackman and James Coburn, with a good supporting performance from Candice Bergen.
