A criminal gang persuade a pharmacist to make fake imitations products that the gang sell as the real thing. Charles Farrell is tempted by the offer of money that will enable him to marry his girlfriend (Bette Davis) who works in the pharmacy. Things get dangerous when he wants to leave the scheme and it puts his life and the lives of others in danger. The plot is a typical gangster plot using threats of violence to get their way. Bette Davis has a relatively small role as the girlfriend warning him of the risks of getting involved with criminals.
