Aliens land in the sea just off the coast of several countries. The US marines are sent into the front of Los Angeles to rescue civilians from a police station. However they end up as the forward line of defence against the aliens. The action is fast and furious as is the cinematography which is close up and and snappy. This leaves you exhausted but the plot has all sorst of problems and there is nothing to the characters. This is derivative of many films (Independence Day, Assault on Precinct 13) but adds nothing to them. Aaron Eckhart does OK with the material he has to work with.
