A social climbing socialite (Jean Muir) is out with her boyfriend (Robert Cummings) when he gets drunk and insists on driving home, but when she takes over driving she accidentally kills a cyclist but lets him take the blame. Her sister works out the truth but keeps silent for the sake of her family. The early part of the film reflects late 1930's high society and then becomes more amoral examination of love and relationships.
