Comment
A free spirited young woman gets a job as a cleaner at a bed and breakfast in a small British seaside town. She befriends the quiet daughter and starts an affair with the father who has writers block after writing one successful novel, whilst his wife resents giving up her acting career for him. Whilst you know this tangle of relationships will end badly, the characters and plot are well crafted and there is a realism to the way the characters interact with each other. This is essentially a mix between a coming of age drama and coping with a mid-life crisis. It is not laugh out loud comedy but there are some good one-liners set against a background of family tragedy. There are good performances from both Jessica Brown Findlay and Felicity Jones who are up and coming British actresses and a solid performance from Julia Ormond.
