Comment/Synopsis

Captain Nemo travels the seas in his submarine looking for vengance on the man who caused the death of the woman he loved. This is an intriguing silent film that is a mix of two Jules Verne novels (20000 Leaguees Under The Sea and Mysterious Island), though the characters lack the depth of those in the novel. It is notable for being the earliest film that has underwater sequences filmed and was very expenseive to make, taking 2 years and being funded by Universal Film Manufacturing Company.
