This film is loosely based on Shakespeare's The Taming Of The Shrew and set in an American High School. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is the new boy in school who falls for beautifull Larisa Oleynik, but she cannot date a boy until her more unpleasant sister, Julia Styles, also has a date. So he arranges for Heath Ledger to try and take out Julia Styles and their initial animosity turns to a gruding friendship. This is a light entertaining teen movie that benefits from its basis in a good plot and good performances from Heath Ledger and Julia Styles.
