Mabel Normand was an actress in silent films as well as being a director and producer. She acted alongside Fatty Arbuckle and Charlie Chaplin and contributed to the start of Charlie Chaplin's career. She was the uncredited director of several of Charlie Chaplin's films. Her career declined in the early 1920's as she was caught up in scandals related to the death of two people. She had an affair with director/producer Mack Sennett and died at the age of 37 from tuberculosis. She was married to Lew Cody.
