The local branch railway line to a village is threataned with closure and so the locals decide to run the line themselves despite the opposition of the newly formed bus company. Entertaining British comedy from Ealing Studio's that captures the spirit of a rural England that was already becoming a dream when the film was made and now reflects a lost world when the squire ruled the village and the vicar wanted to be a train driver.
