A meteorite crashes to easrth and Michael Rooker investigates only to be infected by an alien life form. He infects Brenda James who becomes the source of a whole swam of slithering creatures that start infecting people and turning them into zombie like characters. Policeman Nathan Fillon teams up with Michael Rooker's wife (Elizabeth Banks) to try and stop them taking over the whole town. The plot may not be original, but this is a very effective and impresive version of the zombie / B movie style horror film. James Gunn delivers a film good in doing what it sets out to do: suspense, shock, gore and a bit of black humour and it is better than most versions of this type of film. Ther are good performances from Nathan Fillon and Elizabeth Banks, but the classic scene from the film is Tania Saulnier being attacked by an alien slug in the bath.
