A sailor arrives in New Zealand and makes contact with a local tribe, years later he returns with his wife and friend to settle with the inevitable clash of cultures. This is not a particularly good film on any leveland the portrayal of the immigrant people and the indigenous people does not sit well with modern views. Jack Hawkins is strangely miscast and whilst Glynis Johns has many talents she is not able to use them here. Noel Purcell has one of his beter roles and there are some nice shots of the New Zealnd scenery in colour.
