Hugh Grant is a song writer from the 1980's who is barely making a living on the retro circuit, when he is invited to write a song for the latest teenage pop star (Hayley Bennett) in just three days. Struggling to write a song for the first time in years he teams up with a quirky young woman (Drew Barrymore) who looks after his plants. Together they write a song and develop a relationship. This is a gentle and entertaining "chic flic" that, whilst it has a predictable plot, is worth watching for the engaging performances of both Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore and has some annoyingly catchy 80's style music. There is a great on screen chemistry between Hugh Grant and Drew Barymore and a good supporting performance from Kristen Johnston as the now more mature fan.
