David Niven is a British pilot who is shot down in World War 2. He should have died, but the person due to take him to heaven cannot find him for 20 hours, during which time he falls in love with Kim Hunter. He then argues in a celestial court that he should be allowed to return to earth to live with his new love. This looks a t life and death from a post war perspective. This is experimental for the time as it mixes black and white and colour and life and death.
