Comment/Synopsis

Fu Manchu wants the gold mask and sword of Genghis Khan in order to take over the world but a group of English archaeologists are to stop him. This is not the best of the various Fu Manchu adaptations. Boris Karloff was cast as Fu Manchu on the back of his success as Frankenstein and does his best with the script and production he has to work with. Myrna Loy has little to do except stand around. Boris Karloff had been making horror films for Universal but he was brought by MGM to appear in this film. THis was a completely different style of film for MGM and Louis B Meyer, which make explain it unusual production, which was lavish than his earlier films with Universal.
