This is MGM's lavish version of the life of Marie Antoinette in the French court through to her execution. There are lacish outfits and impressive sets, but in places it is slow and over long, but does cover the major events of her life in the French court. However it is the central performance from Norma Shearer that carries the film and there is good support from Robert Morley and the rest of a strong cast.
