A struggling writer (Bradley Cooper) is given an experimental drug by his ex-brother in-law. This enables him to use all his brain and also to remember and organise every piece of information he is exposed to. He starts trading on the stock market with considerable and rapid success and comes to the attention of trader Robert De Niro and those who are after the drug. He also starts to experiencing side effects.
