An out of work actress who aspires to be a writer meets an out of work jazz pianist who wants to open a jazz club. Despite their differences, they become lovers, but will their differing aspirations enable them to stay together? The plot is not original, not does it have any real depth or twists. The musical numbers are not memorable and the dance numbers have some visual tricks but not great choreography. In many ways this is a run of the mill musical romance that became popular and was nominated for a raft (14) of Oscars. It created a revival of the musical.
