Director: Phil Morrison
A New York gallery owner (Embeth Davidtz) and her new husband (Alessandro Nivola) travel to North Carolina to discuss a deal with a local artist. They stay with his family who he has been estranged from and were not invited to their wedding. Their arrival disrupts his parents and also his brother and pregnant wife (Amy Adams). This is a study in culture and relationships that connects more with American audiences that European ones. The pace is unhurried rather than slow and the performances from both Amy Adams as the pregnant southern woman and Embeth Davidtz as the high flying city girl are both different and good.
Nomination - Best Supporting Actress - Amy Adams
