Brendan Fraser leads his nephew (Josh Hutcherson) and a local guide (Anita Briem) down an Icelandic mine in search of his brother and following Jules Vernes book. This is a loose adaptation of the novel and is not a patch on the earlier 1959 version with James Mason. This version relies much more on special effects than on plot and characters.
