Dana Andrews is Johnny Reno who gets ambushed by two men. He kills one and takes the other into the local town where the local people have a lynch mob for him. Dana Andrews works with local sheriff Lon Chaney Jr to get to the bottom of what really happened and why and meanwhile he meets up again with his ex-girlfriend Jane Russell. This is not a great western, that has a slow plot and little development of any of the characters. The performances from Dana Andrews and Jane Russell are lacklustre and seem to show that they were past their prime by the time they made this film
