A boy (Patrick Dempsey) and girl (Helen Slater) who are opposites and are allocated the same room at college. Their initial animosity develops into a relationship, breaks down and then comes together again. Along the way they learn more about life and themselves. There is not much to the plot and the musical numbers are incongruous, but it is an entertaining light piece of romantic fluff.
