Flash Gordon (Sam Jones) and his girlfriend Dale Arden (Melody Anderson) together with Dr Zarkov (Topol) fly their spaceship to the land of Mongul where the Emperor exerts his reign of terror of his various subjects. They have to stop him from destroying the earth. Sci-Fi adventure after the style of the 1930's comic strips and films. Entertaining and in places amusing film. This is not classic Sci-Fi but it is entertaining, helped by performances from Timothy Dalton and especially Brian Blessed. Although not a great box office success, it has developed a cult following.
