A woman who aspires to be a music hall singer meets a another actor who is given the job of being a female impersonator. When he loses his voice she takes on the role and becomes a woman pretending to be a man pretending to be a woman, and her career takes off. The plot is silly and no one would take Jessie Matthews as a man, but it does give her the opportunity to dress up in some fancy gowns and sing and dance.
