Sam Rockwell plays Chuck Barris who was responsible for and produced several game shows (Dating Game, Newly Wed Game etc) on American TV in the 1960's and 1970's and who in his autobioagraphy claimed to be a hit man for the CIA. Given the nature of the book it is based upon, it is not surprising that the film is a strange mix of comedy and drama. The best performances come from the understated supporting roles from Drrew Barrymore amd Julia Roberts.
