A young man (Alec Guiness) living in the Potteries schemes his way through society and along the way meets three women. One manipulative (Glynis Johns), one rich (Valerie Hobson) and one who loves him (Petula Clark). This is a fun British comedy with a good performance from Alec Guinness in the lead and good support from Glynis Johns as the manipulative woman after wealth and Petula Clark as the local girl who has always had a crush on him.
