John Malkovich quits his job with the American secret service and decides to write his memoirs. His wife (Tilda Swinton) wants a divorce as she is having an affair with George Clooney who is estranged from his wife Elizabeth Marvel. He looses a disc with part of his book at a gym where it is found by Brad Pitt and Frances McDormand who work there. in an attempt to raise money they try and blackmail John Malkovich and when he rejects them they offer the information to the Russians. Meanwhile George Clooney and Frances McDormand meet via an internet dating site. The story line runs much better in the film than it sounds in the synopsis and the direction from the Coen brothers is is crisp and keeps the film moving with a good pace with no unnecessary scenes. There are good performances from the strong cast and particularly from Frances McDormand.
