Steve Martin is a small time actor and film director who is trying to produce a film. He gets a producer to agree to make it provided he can get the top actor (Eddie Murphy) to appear in the film. When Eddie Murphy says no, Steve Martin decides to make the film himself on the very cheap and filming Eddie Murphy without him knowing he is in the film. This is an entertaining satire on the film industry from Steve Martin at his best who is well paired with Eddie Murphy. They are well supported by Christine Baranski as the aging star and Heather Graham as the young actress who is prepared to use her feminine attractions to become a star.
