A doctor is banished from Berlin to a small hospital in rural East Germany during the communist rule as she is suspected of wanting to defect to West Germany with her West German lover. she is torn between her desire to defect and her compassion as a doctor as shown by her help for a young pregnant girl who has escaped a local labour camp. This German film is well written, has some good plot threads , is very well filmed and reveals some of pressures of living in East Germany and being under suspision from the Stasi. This is a very good, thoughtful and engaging film.
