A young woman (Juno Temple) and an older man (Timothy Spall) meet by chance in Blackpool. As they strike up an unlikely friendship the stories of their troubled lives start to be revealed and the consequences of the actions early in their lives catch up with them. It is a story about the good and the bad in people and those that end up being both. The film is touching, funny, gritty, emotional and bleak, but all the time engrossing. There are good performances from both Timothy Spall and Juno Temple. They are convincing in their characters and the chemistry between them is effective.
