Title: Anna Christie
Colour: Black and White / Silent
Director: John Griffith Wray
The daughter (Blanche Sweet) of the captain of a boat returns to him for the first time having been sent away to relatives when she was young. She starts to build a relationship with her father and a sailor they rescue from the sea, but she has a dark past that could spoil her relationships. This is a good silent version of the stage play with Blanche Sweet taking the role of Anna Christie that was made famous by Greta Garbo in the 1930 sound version that is better known. George F Marion played the father in both these versions.
