A scientist is killed and anti-matter stolen whilst four cardinals have been kidnapped by a mysterious group called th Illuminate who threat to kill them and blow up the Vatican. Tom Hanks is the American symbolist brought in to help along with Ayelet Zurer the scientist who can make the antimatter safe. This is based on a Dan Brown novel of conspiracy in the Catholic Church and is more of an action film in a typical race against time to avert a disaster film. Ewan McGregor is good as the senior cleric, Tom Hanks is his usual self and Ayelet Zurer is a better actress than this script allows her to be.
