A thief (Clint Eastwood) witnessess the killing of a rich woman (Mellora Hardin) by secret service agents when the president of America (Gene Hackman) get into a fight with her during a sexual encounter in her home. The policeman investigating (Ed Harris) suspects that Clint Eastwood was involved in the break in, but does not realise how high the involvement goes but suspects when an attempt is made on the life of Clint Eastwood's daughter (Laura Linney). This is a good thriller that is well played by Clint Eastwood and Ed Harris with a good supporting role from Laura Linney.
