Anne Bancroft is an American writer who writes to British book seller Anthony Hopkins to order some books. The correspondence continues from the 1940's to the 1960's. This is based on true story that was effective as a book (by Helene Hanff) and a play, but does not work so well as a film. Anthony Hopkins and Anne Bancroft give solid if staid performances as the two leads.
