William Boyd

William Boyd was an American actor who started his career in silent films but was best known for his role as Hopalong Cassidy in a series of western films made between 1935 and 1948. When United Artists stopped making the films in 1948 he bought up the rights to the films and subsequently made money by selling them to be shown on television where he reached a new audience and also sold related merchandise.
